Training on wolf damage assessment

The training action about Wolf Damage Assessment aimed to  increase the knowledge of the wardens and technicians of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forest (ICNF) with regard to the process of evaluating the occurrence of predation and of the predator responsible, in damages of domestic animals attributed to the wolf.

This theoretical and practical action was given by  Dr. Simone Angelucci (Majella National Park, Italy), aided by Dr. Nuno Santos (Portugal), both experienced veterinarians on the topic.  The training was divided into a theoretical session where aspects relating to the identification of the injuries and of the predator responsible were addressed, and a practical session which included the examination of carcasses.

The training was attended by 44 participants: veterinaries, and wardens and technicians of ICNF.
