Training meetings and trekking on the wolf's paths

The project "The wolf's paths“ created by Legambiente in collaboration with Terramare and DifesAttiva, funded by the Tuscany Region and the Province of Grosseto, is going to start. The project wants to sensitize local communities in the provinces of Grosseto, Siena and Arezzo on the theme of conservation of the wolf species, associated with the promotion of ecotourism and responsible dog ownership and the correct behavior to be had in case you meet a dog to protect livestock. In the selected localities the tension among the inhabitants is very high, in particular the breeders, the aim of the project is therefore to provide a correct image of the wolf.

the project involves the organization of six excursions with guides in the towns of Grosseto, Siena, and Arezzo, where the presence of the wolf is verified and where predation actions on crude have occurred. Trekking on "The paths of the Wolf" are real itineraries in nature and in the life of companies that, with commitment and dedication, have equipped themselves with tools to protect the flock. During each event, participants can in fact taste the products and learn more about the culture of pastoralism and its importance for environmental balance. The first meeting will be held on 11 March in Roccalbegna (GR).

Then, on the 29th of March there will be a training event for environmental excursion guides at the National Center for Sustainable Development of Legambiente, Loc. Enaoli (GR). During the meeting Nunzio D’Apolito of legambiente will talk about the morphological and behavioral aspects of the wolf; Maurizio Zaccherotti, Technical Advisor of the Province of Grosseto will illustrate the Provincial Plan for the reduction of canine stray dogs and will address the issue of conflict management; Luisa Vielmi will talk about the experience of DifesAttiva, an association of breeders born from the Life Medwolf project that have provided themselves with measures to protect the flock. The day will end with a visit to the company "Le Tofane", in the Maremma Park, part of the DifesAttiva network.
