IV Iberian Wolf Conference

This event, organized by the Grupo Lobo, had the support of several Portuguese entities: Higher School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco; CE3c – Center for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon; CIBIO/InBio – Center for Research on Biodiversity and Genetic Resources. The following Spanish entities were also involved: the Galician Association of Custody of the Territory; A.RE.NA – Consultants in Natural Resources S.L.; ASCEL – Association for the Conservation and Study of the Iberian Wolf and SECEM – the Spanish Society for the Conservation and Study of Mammals. The participants were 145, among Portuguese, Spanish and Italian experts. There were 39 oral presentations and 26 posters.
Participants had the privilege of attending guest speaker presentations, featuring three top figures in the wolf studies’ world: John Shivik, Petter Wabakken and Steve Redpath.
Around the Congress, other activities were held, such as children's visits, exhibitions in the city of Castelo Branco, ecotourism activities and an Eco-Market with regional products from wolf-inhabited regions.
